Air Pollution and Hospital Admissions in Washington State

EPA Grant Number: R825266
Title: Air Pollution and Hospital Admissions in Washington State
Investigators:
Institution: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
EPA Project Officer: Chung, Serena
Project Period: October 1, 1996 through September 30, 1999
Project Amount: $420,056
RFA: Air Quality (1996) RFA Text |  Recipients Lists
Research Category: Air Quality and Air Toxics , Air

Description:

The purpose of this project is to investigate the association between air pollution in the State of Washington and hospital admissions for respiratory conditions. Statistical methods will be used to investigate these associations while controlling other factors, such as weather, that may also influence hospital admissions. The association between specific components of the air pollution mix, such as particulate matter, and hospital admissions will also be investigated. The results of this research should provide important information for regulation of air quality.
